  • Recruit Amanda Murphy during her final field exercise before graduation from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood.  A short time after graduation Murphy went AWOL.
  • Dr. Jane Turner, an assistant medical examier, in the autospy room of the morgue in St. Louis.  Turner took part in the investigation to identify the torso that was recovered from the Mississippi River.
  • Walter J. Heiman, 103, is one of a growing population of centenarians in the United States.  Born into a wealthy German family at the beginning of the 20th century he had every adavantage in life starting out.  He volunteered to fight for Germany in WWI but was forced to flee his homeland before the start of WWII to escape Hilter's percecution of the Jewish people. After arriving in America at the age of 37 with his pregant wife he build multi-million dollar company from the ground up.still does 20 minutes of calisthenics on bed several times a week.  Until a few months ago he used to go swimming four times a week.  {quote}Sometimes an easy life makes you soft.   • Friday July 16, 2010--KMOX radio personality John Carney doesn't own a motorcycle but he lusts for a Harley-Davidson.  The father of four, including two young children, doesn't believe a Harley could accomodate a child seat.   •  August 2002--“They attacked us. That brought us together”  said Pastor Sammie E. Jones of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis.  Jones says that for some African Americans, patriotism is a double edged sentiment, given that they are the descendants of slaves and still witness social and racial injustices in this country.  He fears an encroachment on civil liberties in the United States in the name of homeland security.  Jones, a U.S. Army veteran, said that America is his home too-and that people of all colors and creeds died in the terror attacks.  {quote}No matter what, I still love my country.” says Jones.Photo By David Carson/PD

  • Michelle Giessman, director of student housing at Lindenwood, stands in the common area of Sibley Hall on the Lindenwood campus in St. Charles. For decades, freshman at Lindenwood University have heard the tales about deceased founder Mary Sibley roaming the campus, Giessman and a few professors and long time staffers say the stories are real. A picture of Mary Sibley can be seen to the right hanging on the wall. This image was made during a 15 second exposure using a flashlight to light the room, the technique is called painting with light.
