A looter with a gun in his waistband steals items from a QuikTrip in Ferguson after riots broke out after a candlelight vigil for Michael Brown on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2014. Hours earlier, hundreds of people had peacefully gathered for a vigil on the spot where Brown, an unarmed black 18-year-old, was shot and killed by Darren Wilson, a white Ferguson police officer. Police were also present at the vigil, but as dusk gave way to night, the crowd’s frustration turned to anger. Rocks and bottles were thrown at officers and police responded with dogs, riot gear and an armored truck. A short time after this photo was shot the store was set on fire.Photo by David Carson, dcarson@post-dispatch.com
